Me and wife purchased our first business through AFW Business Brokers in November 2012. While searching for a business and during the purchasing process we found Alice to be courteous, knowledgeable and very professional. She made herself available at all times and followed up on all of our concerns and questions relating to the business and provided prompt responses.
We were looking at purchasing a larger business and possibly a business in a different industry than the one we purchased. We had made inquiries and inspected a few businesses, including through other brokers. Obviously in the end, it was the business we purchased which was the main reason we were required to go through AFW Business Brokers, however having the confidence to trust Alice along with her advice made the decision much easier.
What separated Alice from the other brokers in our situation was, Alice assessed our financial and personal situation, including our inexperience in business and my wish to continue full time in my current occupation. While we we very keen to purchase a more expensive business, which would have gained her a much higher commission from the sale, Alice's advice led us, reluctantly at first, to a much cheaper business. Looking back on the whole process, we can honestly say that if we had of purchased the larger business, we would have got ourselves in over our head and possibly would have been out of business very quickly. For that, we owe Alice a great deal of gratitude.
All of the information Alice provided to us prior to the sale, including financial information about the business was correct and we were meeting the advised sales figures when we took over the business. Her advice on that, we would find it easier to start smaller and learn how to run a small business and look to grow from there was also spot on. After the sale, she has contacted us by phone on a few occasions and dropped in also to see how we were going. She has gone over and beyond our expectations of what someone in her position would be required to do. We would recommend Alice to any buyer or seller and when we are ready to sell our business and look to purchase a bigger shop, we will be using her service.
